Summer has arrived at last, and with it a whole raft of sporting competitions. Competition is often seen as a good thing, bringing out the best in people, giving them the incentive to try harder. But it can be truly tough on those who are not the winners. Sports people may train just as hard, […]
Carbon Literacy
CARBON LITERACY 1 – Pat Tachie-Menson As reported in the Spring magazine, the participants in the Lent Course on Carbon Literacy – Pat TM, Heather, John, Mary, Alvin, Jenny, Stuart, Rebecca (by zoom) and Sue – found it both inspiring and challenging. The Small Things
The Small Things This hymn, written by our minister, was sung at the Synod Green Day in June. It goes to the folk tune ‘The Ash Grove’. The great works of nature depend on the small things: The icecaps need snowflakes, the orchards need bees, The forests need fungi, the whales need their plankton […]

Harvest Festival thanks
Many thanks to all who brought gifts for the Harvest Festival on Oct 8th. The Salvation Army were extremely grateful, given the high demand for their food parcels. Other gifts and goodies were taken to housebound people as an expression of our love and prayers.
Autumn Reflection – Winnie
Autumn, and of course, it’s a beautiful season here with fruit ripening and the trees full of russet colours. Looking out into the garden this past month, which we do a lot, I have been fascinated and entertained by the incredibly energetic activity of the wildlife. The squirrels are dashing about at top speed – […]

In April, Stuart, Maggie and I attended the special service in Westminster Hall for the 50th anniversary of the URC (still available to watch from the URC website Our 50th anniversary service – United Reformed Church). June saw the 75th anniversary of the arrival of […]
